DAY 1

+ Lake Country Lightning 14U won their first game of the tournament on the back of RHP Charles Meister (Hersey, IL, 2025) and OF Jackson Piggott (Lake Zurich, IL, 2025). Meister started for the Lightning and was dominant, cruising through his three innings of work. He controlled the tempo of the game with ease on the rubber, showing innate confidence and poise throughout. Meister attacked the zone with a 79-82 mph fastball and landed his breaking ball for strikes at 69-72 mph, flashing sharp spin at times. As for Piggot, the Lightning cleanup hitter doubled twice and drove in two runs. INF Jackson Cavaliero (Barrington, 2025; IL) tallied two hits and brought two in as well.

+ For GRB MKE Green 13U, INF Trey Kerkhoff (2026) gave the MKE Rays a lead they would ultimately not relinquish, with a bases-clearing triple down the left field line in the top of the 5th inning. GRB eventually won the game 6-2 and Kerkhoff finished with three hits total.

+ Cangelosi Sparks 14U won both of their games early Friday by the combined score of 20-3. INF/C Jaden Fauske (N/A, IL, 2025) has made early impressions in the past couple years already as a player who’s simply advanced for his age. He continues to trend that way, with a loose, athletic left-handed swing that lands barrels to all fields with inherent hand/eye skill. He recorded four hits in the two wins. CIF Enzo Infelise (Providence Catholic, IL, 2025) was 5-for-7 in his team’s two wins, and he notched a double and drove in four total. Game two starter RHP Jake Leonard (IL, 2025) struck out five in five scoreless and hitless innings.

+ Slammers Coyote 14U won both of their pool games on Friday afternoon, defeating two quality squads, Top Tier Americans and Velocity Baseball. INF Stevan Gavric (2025) led the way for the Coyotes in game two with two extra-base hits, including a two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning that gave them a lead. RHP Yunus Hamideh (Stevenson, 2025) went the distance on the mound for Slammers in the win. OF Evan Cichanofsky (Bay Port, 2025) brought home the only three runs of the game for Velocity on a double down the left field line in the fifth inning.

+ A tight, competitive 14U contest between GRB Rays Green and Top Tier Nationals took place over at Milkmen Field during our 3:30 p.m. slot. The Rays jumped out to an early lead, but an impressive five-run third inning and all-around comeback from Nationals kept them in the game. An RBI single by INF Aadden Guerrero (Lyons Township, IL, 2025) tied the game up 11-11 in the sixth inning, following the second double of the day from Top Tier’s OF Charles Sollars (2025). That lead didn’t last long, as the Rays scored a run in the bottom half of the inning for a walk-off win. RHP/INF Aidan Arnett (2026) and RHP/INF Max Glusick (2025) each drove in two on extra-base hits in the win for GRB. Glusick had two key strikeouts with a runner in scoring position as well, setting up the eventual win by the Rays. CIF Ivan Mastalaski (2025) had a few barrels and brought three runners home for Top Tier.

+ Central Illinois Outlaws starts 2-0 in pool play, with wins over PTA Timberrattlers and Upper Deck Cougars. In game one on Friday, the Outlaws defeated the Timberrattlers by a score of 7-3 and won game two by a score of 7-3. The offense was led by C Tyler Humphrey (Washington Community, IL, 2025) who went 2-for-4 in both games. Humphrey recorded a triple, double, walk and two RBIs. RHP Pierce Martin (Washington Community, IL, 2025) got the start in game one and got the win, going 5.2 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and struck out five. LHP Zeb Rashid (Wethersfield, IL, 2025) faced the final five batters and struck out two. RHP Carter Prina (Washington Community, IL, 2025) pitched in game two going four innings allowing one run on three hits and struck out three; Prina’s fastball sat 79-81 mph.

+ 13U Naperville Renegades won their first game of the day and walked away with a tie in their second game. Renegades defeated Top Tier Nationals 10-2 in five 5 innings and tied Upper Deck Cougars. Tristan Yerman (Center Grove, IN, 2026) led the offense on the day going, 5-for-5 with a double, two walks and two RBIs.

+ RHP/C Max Berrisford (Duluth East, MN, 2025) emerged as a two-way follow name for the Encompass Expos 14U. Berrisford boasts a lanky 6-foot-2, 160-pound frame with loose, upside levers that project. He stood out in both games for the Expos on Friday, doubling twice in game one, including one that ricocheted off the huge fence on the Fenway field at The Rock. Then, Berrisford took the mound and struck out 12 in a complete game effort, sitting mostly 74-77 mph with his heater and touching 79-80 mph a few times.

+ Top Tier West 14U put together a strong showing, from top to bottom, in their 10-0 victory on Friday afternoon. Nik Nelson (IL, 2025) had two extra-base hits and drove in four runs total, while Sammy Gonzalez IV (East Aurora, IL, 2025) brought two runs in on two hits. 1B Bobby Grganto (IL, 2025) and Matthew Kowalik (IL, 2025) each had two hits, including their own respective doubles. On the mound for Top Tier to start was RHP Caden Anderson (IL, 2025), who struck out four and allowed only one hit in three innings. He showed well on the hill with a loose, quick arm that came out of a clean short window. His fastball worked well on the corners at 75-77 mph, consistently filling up the zone with strikes.

+ Chicago Elite 14U used Friday to show as one of the top teams in attendance, earning 3-2 and 18-1 wins. OF Nolan Maciejewski (Tinley Park, IL, 2025) and INF/C Zach Pomatto (Joliet Catholic, IL, 2025) were two of the team’s most productive hitters on Friday; Maciejewski doubled and tripled in the 3-2 win, and also doubled again in game two. RHP/OF Sawyer Deering (Kimberly, WI, 2025) pitched the first inning and K’d the side, looking like one of the top arms in Wisconsin’s incoming freshman class, so far, up to 82 mph. He also notched two triples and drove in five runs in total in that big win.

+ Top Tier Americans 13U won both of its games on Friday, the first of which featured an excellent pitching performance from RHP Callaghan O’Connor (Bishop McNamara, IL, 2026), who struck out six in three frames and allowed just one hit, two walks, in the team’s lopsided 15-0 win. C Pancho Vazquez (Mount Carmel, IL, 2025) went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. CIF T.J. McQuillan (Lake Central, IN, 2025) went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

+ Our staff came away highly impressed with the STL Dynamite 14U squad, led by SS/RHP Gavin Richars (Vianney, MO, 2025), a dynamic two-way prospect with premium strength and athleticism that allowed him to show as arguably the best position player and pitcher of the day, both. He’s a rangy middle infielder stocked with huge arm strength that we were eager to see from the mound – and we did soon enough in a game one relief appearance. He hopped on the mound for a brief appearance and sat 84-86 mph with a biting slider that stole the show Friday afternoon. Offensively, Richars’ left-handed bat is fast, strong and he enters the box with an aggressive and confident approach. He connected for a double that lined all the way off the center field fence in game one, and burst down the line later on a bunt single, clocked at 4.20.

Dynamite’s catcher Peter Visconti (Warren Township, IL, 2025) impressed on both sides of the ball. He looked the part as a confident receiver with sound blocking skills defensively, and he swings a compact and strong right-handed bat that lifted a long home run over the tall Fenway replica fence in left field. RHP Ryker Benz (Vianney, MO, 2025) is a competitive pitcher with a mid- to upper-70s fastball that jumps from a lower release height, earning swings and misses on its own, leading to seven Ks in 5.2 innings in game one. C/3B/RHP J.D. Dohrmann (Vianney, MO, 2025) is another takeaway from Friday, as he swings a loose right-handed bat with quick/athletic hands inside a lean and projectable 5-foot-10 frame. Dohrmann also K’d six in three perfect innings pitched in his team’s huge game two win.

+ Hitters Baseball 14U has some physical frames in its dugout, including C Carter Kutz (Hartford Union, WI, 2025). He’s a lean, highly athletic backstop who takes pride in his defense, and with effort. He was regularly popping in the 2.10 range in between innings, and he put it to use in-game. Offensively, he is an aggressive right-handed hitter with the ability to use the whole field. He collected two hits and drove in five runs in their comeback win in game one. In that same game, INF Daniel Hauboldt (Muskego, WI, 2025) went 3-for-3 with three hard-hit balls, including a line-drive that smashed off the tall fence at The Rock’s Fenway field, limiting him to a single that may very well have been a homer elsewhere. INF Ethan Bauerschmidt (Tremper, 2025) was 3-for-4 in that game as well, and he swings a loose/athletic and projectable right-handed bat worth following closely.

In Hitters’ second game of the day, RHP/INF Jaxon Clayton (WI, 2025) got the start, showcasing his excellent and advanced feel to spin a breaking ball. He sat mostly 75-78 mph with the fastball, utilizing the corners, and really favored the curveball, throwing it often and in most counts, featuring tight spin, bite, and swing-and-miss action. He struck out five in 4.2 innings without allowing an earned run. Clayton is an athletic, strong 5-foot-11 two-way player to follow in the state’s incoming freshman class.

+ Pro Player's A.J. Putty (Huntley, IL, 2025) is off to a hot start in this weekend's tournament. Through two games Putty is a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. In the Canes 12-2 win over PTA Timberrattlers, Putty was just a double shy of the cycle, capping off a big offensive day.

+ GRB MKE Green’s 14U squad put together a well-rounded 12-2 on Friday afternoon, Ashton Haney (Catholic Memorial, WI, 2025), Mason Scharl (WI, 2025), and Cooper Haas (WI, 2025) each collected three hits. Haney doubled while Haas drove in three runs.

+ On the 13U side, 5 Star Great Lakes Gold secured a resounding 13-3 win with a 12-run third inning. OF Nicholas Foust (Chesterton, IN, 2026) led the way with two RBIs on a triple and home run while driving in five, all in the same inning.

+ At 14U in the nightcap, Top Tier South's LHP Connor Essenberg (Lincoln-Way West, IL, 2025) came in relief to strike out nine over five innings to secure the win. Essenberg tossed five shutout innings out of the ‘pen, allowing just one hit. The 6-foot, 155-pound southpaw has a ton of upside working out of a ¾ slot with a loose arm touching 79 mph and a 2/8 slider.

+ At 14U, STiKS Academy Black and GRB Rays Green battled late at night in a back-and-forth contest that ended in a Rays 10-8 win. GRB’s RHP/INF Kaden Konnor (Monona Grove, WI, 2025) struck out seven in four innings of relief, limiting a potent STiKS offense to just two runs. Max Glusick (WI, 2025) added another couple hits, including a double, after a strong game one performance; C Terek Verhage (Monona Grove, WI, 2025) was 2-for-4 with an RBI. SS/2B Preston Yaucher (Edgewood, WI, 2025) is a sure-handed infielder and he tallied one of the game’s key hits, a line-drive single that got past the left fielder, plating three runs.

Meanwhile, STiKS went 1-1 on the day, and look like a roster to hone back in on Saturday. INF Greysen Zach (Pewaukee, WI, 2025) is a physical 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, and he strikes the ball from the right-handed batter’s box with advanced authority. He tripled and doubled in the game two loss, while showing off excellent athleticism, moving around the basepaths in a fluid, long-stride gait that combines for an interesting toolset to monitor when compounded with his inherent bat strength.

+ Cangelosi Sparks North 14U (Clarke) rallied for a clutch come-from-behind win on Friday evening to beat Hitters, 4-2, late. Carter Monroe (IL, 2025) and C Matt Reilly (Metea Valley, IL, 2025) were the main factors here, as Monroe tied it on a base hit the other way, and Reilly’s two-run single up the middle put them into the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
