DAY 2

RHP/3B Mason Rosborough (Burlington Central, IL, 2024) tossed a four inning complete game in a 10-0 Illinois Indians win over Midwest Halos Red. Rosborough scattered one hit, striking out six and allowing two walks. Another Illinois Indians player had a productive day yesterday: Evan Niernberg (Mundelein, IL, 2024). Niernberg went 5-for-7 with two triples combined between the two Indians' games.

In a close game over at Milkmen Field early on, C Abraham Maurer (North Fond du Lac, 2024) of CBT Wolfpack Black tallied four hits and drove in two runs. 1B Abe Coronado (Kimberly, 2024) continues to swing a hot bat for CBT, as the physical right-handed hitting corner infielder cleared the bases with a triple; his second of the tournament.

The second and final game of our Milkmen slate today ended in a tie when CBT Wolfpack Black roared back to even the game up in the final frame, scoring five runs. There were plenty of scouting takeaways from this game, however, and one of them was RHP Jack Bauer (Greendale, 2024) who threw five competitive innings for PTA. Bauer attacked the corners of the zone with a 78-81 mph fastball and he continued to ride some early momentum created in the spring, where he played an important role for Greendale, a team that was perennially in our Power 25 rankings. 3B/RHP Tyler Conger (Waukesha South, 2024) doubled and drove in two runs for PTA, while C/OF Peyton Ryback (Nathan Hale, 2024) added two hits of his own. 1B Abe Coronado (Kimberly, 2024) keeps on getting it done for CBT, driving in three runs.

Despite a tough loss against an ultra-competitive Upper Deck Cougars squad, LHP Hudson Johnson (Prior Lake, MN, 2024) turned in an impressive start for STARTERS. The 6-foot, 195-pound southpaw hurled five innings, striking out two and walking none. He attacked the zone with a fastball that showed heavy arm-side action and sat at 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph Johnson was able to land a tight shaped 1/7 curveball for strikes routinely and he also mixed in a 70-72 mph changeup that showed natural sinking action off a fastball plane. Johnson solidified himself as a high pitchability southpaw in Minnesota’s 2024 class.

NEO Elite Black won their first game of the weekend, thanks to a complete game shutout by LHP Matthew Tierno (Lake Catholic, OH, 2024). Tierno struck out eight batters throughout his start and contributed offensively, adding two hits to the mix. Playing up a level, left-handed hitting INF Gerardo Torres (2025) tripled and drove a run in, while Bo Lewis (Mayfield, OH, 2024) and Ryan Cybulski (Mentor, OH, 2024) both drove runs in for NEO.

CIF Paulie Rudolph (Jacobs, IL, 2024) put Phenom Illinois 15U momentarily on top in the bottom of the third inning of their game against Pro Player Canes. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Phenom cleanup hitter got every bit of a fastball, depositing it over the Green Monster on Fenway Field for a no-doubt home run.

Great Lakes Baseball Academy 15U cemented themselves as one of the tournament's top teams after two fairly impressive performances on Day Two. They started their weekend off with a 5-3 win in the opener, backed by strong offensive days from 3B Alex Mezzetti (East Ride, 2024; MN) and Andrew Miller (2024; MN). Mezzetti doubled and drove a run in, while two runs came home on both of Miller’s hits, respectively.

Another name worth a follow from this Lumberjacks’ squad is OF Carson Beavers (Rochester Mayo, 2024; MN). Beavers is an athletic left/left prospect that started in center field and showed off a smooth stroke at the plate, barreling up multiple baseballs, including two extra-base hits in their second game of the day. He’s an advanced runner for his age as well and those wheels play up on the diamond, where he glides around the outfield grass and covers plenty of space.

ISA Stars 2025, as a collective unit, is playing up a level this weekend at our 15U tournament. 3B Drew Siudziński (Notre Dame ACademy, 2025) showed well at the plate for ISA, gapping one the opposite way to the right-center wall for a double early in their game at Fenway Field and later sending a three-run shot into the left-center gap.

Velocity Baseball 15U won their first game of the tournament, 15-0. RHP Logan Kurth (Pulaski, 2024) tossed four scoreless innings for Velocity, holding the opposing lineup and striking out six. Kurth’s max fastball of the day reached an 80 mph high; a number he hit a few times.

Dirtbags Baseball 2024 won their first game on Friday 11-3, led by a strong offensive effort from OF Joey Campagna (Munster, 2024; IN). Hitting out of the three-hole, Campagna finished the game with two hits and five RBIs, including a double. Leadoff hitter OF Nicholas Robinson (Lake Central, 2024; IN) had two hits and drove in two runs as well for the Dirtbags.

Illinois Lightning Lutz split their Friday slate, winning their second game. Left-handed hitting INF Zac Johnson (Wauconda, 2024; IL) finished the day with four hits total, doubling in game two. RHP/OF Connor Vanselow (Wauconda, 2024; IL) also doubled and had two hits in game two for the Lightning and so did Braedon Todd (2024; IL)

Truly one of the more impressive starts we’ve seen so far in this tournament came from Northstar RHP Matthew Totten (Prior Lake, 2024; MN). He’s a projectable athlete, standing at a well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame, and works with a tempo’d rhythm on the mound with a loose, clean arm action. Totten threw six innings of one-run ball, striking out eight in their 3-1 win. He sat at 77-80 mph with his fastball and routinely landed a curveball for strikes at 64-67 mph - a pitch that played well off his heater that he showed supreme confidence in.

PTA White won an early contest of the day 9-1. C/2B Colin Freitage (Mary D. Bradford, 2024) led the PTA offense with three singles and two runs scored. 6-foot-2, 170-pound RHP Beckett Shaw (Muskego, 2024) toed the rubber for PTA, hurling five scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

C/OF Max Johnson (South Milwaukee, 2024) had himself a game against PTA Cardinal both at the plate and on the mound for the Milwaukee Hitmen. On the mound, Johnson threw a five inning complete game, allowing one unearned run on one hit and struck out five. Johnson worked with a two-seam fastball sitting 74-75, topping out at 78 mph. He changed speeds effectively by flipping in a curveball at 67-69 mph that spun off an 11/5 plane. Offensively, Johnson went 3-for-3 with three singles.

Although a wild comeback effort ultimately fell short for the Minnesota Icemen in their first game of the weekend, 3B Andrew Orf (North Branch, 2024; MN) doubled twice in the contest. His second double came in a clutch moment, driving two runs in and cutting his team’s deficit to just one run - inching them that much closer to a comeback win. The Icemen ultimately rode that late momentum into game two, scoring 11 runs and ending their second game by run-rule. OF Draven Woods (Southeast Polk, 2024; IA) powered their offense with a double, home run, and four RBIs total. OF Sam Stockman (Elk River, 2024; MN) and OF Tyler Cobb (Andover, 2024; MN) both had multi-hit games as well.

One of the top arms in Minnesota’s 2024 class toed the rubber for MASH - Vocca in their 13-2 win on Friday afternoon: RHP Riley Leatherman (Wayzata, 2024; MN). Leatherman’s present stuff and future projection make him such an intriguing follow on the mound. He’s a quick-armed 6-foot-2, 155-pound athlete with intentful downhill movement patterns and plenty of physical projection left to come in the frame. He works with a quick pace on the mound, attacking hitters with an 83-85 mph fastball that reached 86 mph a handful of times. Leatherman’s go-to secondary offering was a hard slider at 74-76 mph that flashed late break off a 10/4 plane, averaging 2,200 to 2,400 RPM. He also mixed in a changeup at 73-74 mph that played with some natural diving action to the arm-side. Leatherman dominated on the bump, striking out 10 over five innings of two-run ball.

Top Tier 2024 defeated Northstar Baseball Club behind a strong outing from RHP Parker Violett (Kaneland, 2024) and C Jake Parpet (Conant, 2024). Violett exited the game with an out in the fifth inning, failing to allow an earned run and striking out four. He attacked hitters with a hard-cutting fastball at 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph once in the first inning. Parpet stood out amongst a crowd of talented Top Tier bats, posting a 2-for-3 line with a two-run double that nearly left the yard.

INF Charlie Kober (Milton, 2024) had a strong day at the plate for Edge Baseball over at Frame Park during our 6:00 p.m. slot. Kober finished their game with three hits, all singles, including a walk-off base knock in his final at-bat of the contest.
