The Team Wisconsin squad kicked off their Junior Future Games week with a dominant 11-3 win over Team Colorado on Wednesday. Despite the lopsided score in the end, Team Wisconsin did find themselves down early after Colorado strung together a handful of hits, and capitalized on some unfortunate errors to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

In the third, SS Jonny Deets (La Crosse Aquinas, 2027), who was a lockdown defender up-the-middle, ripped an opposite field single that brought home a pair and cut the deficit to just one. After that both teams went quiet, as pitchers for both sides carved through the opposing lineups.

On the side of Team Wisconsin, LHP Cal Schneider (New Berlin Eisenhower, 2027) overcame a forgettable second inning and was lights out until the end. Throughout his five innings of work, Schneider pounded the zone with a three-pitch mix, and kept Team Colorado off-balance, earning four strikeouts.

Down one in the bottom of the fifth OF Chace Staude (Kettle Moraine, 2027) notched the game up, courtesy of a single to center field, but the Wisconsin bats would not stop there. The aforementioned Schneider also came up clutch with the bat in his hands as he gave Wisconsin the lead when he tallied a single to center field that brought home two runs, giving them a two-run lead late.

Team Wisconsin would then grab two more runs courtesy of RBI singles from the aforementioned Deets, and OF Levi Boivin (Neenah, 2027), that extended their lead to five. The Team Wisconsin offense capped off their nine run inning with RBI triples from both C Jack Spielmann (Milton, 2027) and 3B Danny Flor (Oconomowoc, 2027), followed by a RBI single from OF Ira Hilbelnik (Cedar Grove-Belgium) which put Wisconsin up by eight, thus ending the game due to run-rule.

Next up for Team Wisconsin is a matchup with Team New Jersey at 9:30 on Thursday at the LakePoint Sports Complex on Field 15.
