Committed to Illinois ... Long and loose, Johnson saw his velocity spike from low-80s to upper-80s in the fall. Johnson first showed promise as a sophomore, when he posted a 5-1 record with a 1.91 ERA in helping the Grey Ghosts to a second-place finish in Class 2A. With his athletic frame and whippy arm action, Johnson may still have more in the tank.
