Josh Canning: LHP/OF, (2022) King Philip, MA. 5-foot-10, 150-pound lean frame. Solid at the plate, Canning recorded an exit velocity of 78 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was some, showed a flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Had some loud contact and found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 74 mph; showed a clean exchange, consistent hands, and smooth feet. To the side fielding mechanics. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a long arm action and a high ¾ slot. Capable on the mound, showed some arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a long arm action. Slow-tempo type pitcher and shows easy effort. Has in line shoulder with a consistent balance point. Lands open with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 71-72 mph; shows consistent command and some action. Throws a 12/6 curveball (64-65) that has consistent command. His changeup (67-68) has command low in the zone and fading action.

Hit: (RHH) Started in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then used a short stride. Some bat speed. Good extension on his finish, flat swing. Gap to gap approach.
Power: 78 mph exit velocity, average 58.71 mph. 56.53 mph bat speed average. 21.31 mph hand speed average.
Defense: (OF) Consistent hands, smooth footwork, clean exchange. Solid. Uses his glove to the side.
Arm: 74 mph outfield velocity. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Pitching: Capable. Slow-tempo delivery, easy effort. High ¾ arm angle, some arm speed, long arm action. Consistent balance point, in line shoulders, lands open, a falling off finish.
FB: T72. 71-72 mph. (Max spin 1879; Avg 1801). Consistent accuracy, some action.
CB: 64-65 mph. Consistent command, 12/6 shape.
CH: 67-68 mph. Low in the zone control, fading action.
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed pitcher. The fastball sat 70-71 mph with arm side action to it. The spin pitch was 61-62 mph and big in shape. The changeup is a work in progress. The delivery is online with the feet and the slot is above 3/4 in height. The lift is ok in tempo, direction of the top half comes offline prior to getting to foot strike. The front side needs to get equal and opposite with the backside so he can get synced up in his delivery. He did show a small bounce in his delivery as he got to the top of his lift.
