Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Nick Steinbrunner: C/2B, (2025) Celina, OH. 5-foot-7, 140-pound lean projectable frame. (66.3 mph bat speed average). (19.5 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced stance with a tight controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is efficient developing, uses a short swing plane and balanced finish. Created a lot of loud contact and found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. While catching, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 75 mph; had next level hands, a clean transfer, and quick in control footwork. Tons of flexibility and flexible setup. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot with a short arm action.
1/21/19 Body Type: 4-foot-10 80-pound prospect. Swing Mechanics: Upright stance with a back load to hands and leg kick timing trigger. Hit: Swing works.efficient path. Finds plane well, resulting in an all fields approach/large margin for error in timing. Solid round of BP. Power: 55 mph exit velocity off the tee. Much more to come. Young prospect with a ton of physical projection left. Offensive Projection: TBD. Run: 9.11 60-yard dash. Field: 2.77-2.94 pop times. Good athlete back there. Should see easy increases in pop times with maturity. Throw: 55 mph arm strength to second base. Accurate arm with developing strength. Defensive Projection: TBD.
1/21/19 Pitching
Body Type: 4-foot-10 80-pound prospect.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a ¾ arm slot and showed good athleticism throughout his delivery.
Fastball: 52-55 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone.
Curveball: 44-47 mph breaking ball showed solid shape and spin. Steinbrunner showed the ability to feel and spin the ball well.
Changeup: 41-42 mph changeup was mostly true through the zone.
Pitchability: Good feel and understanding of how to use his three pitch mix to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball shows good potential.
Role: Role is yet to be determined. Steinbrunner is a very young prospect with lots of growing left to do.
