The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
Lanky, wiry frame build at 6'2, 180 with long levers. Highly projectable. Offensively starts with a tall, narrow set-up aligned with the pitcher. Slow, controlled gather on backside before a short forward stride. Hands stay loaded beyond rear shoulder with slight scap load. Short, tight swing. Keeps lead elbow bent and hands stay inside of the baseball. Slight uphill path against a strong front side. Holds posture through contact. Steady, deliberate actions on defense with consistent body control. Receives ball into stance with a soft glove hand and hip hinge over the ball. Keeps momentum behind the ball and gets direction going towards target with quick, active feet on the exchange. Short, compact arm action with high 3/4 release.
Worked exclusively out of the stretch on the mound. Sets up in center of rubber and maintains clean direction towards target. Loads into back hip while staying tall and pushes down slope with lead hip drive. Creates slight shoulder angle at hand break but levels off at landing. Full extension in arm path but then shortens up quickly as he works out to release. Slow, deliberate tempo with late, aggressive intent at release. Controls his finish well and stays balanced with eyes on target. FB/SL combination plays exceptionally well. Has the tools to make a big jump heading into 2023.
