VA/DC Scout Blog

Compact athletic defender. Wider square stance at the plate, pickup to stride landing square with a wide base, and a flat path to contact. Contact driven swing and an above average runner. Defensively Terrell started at second base. He works with a lower base to catch, average hands that present out front, and average arm strength with the ability to throw on the run and from multiple slots. Also, Terrell came on the mound in relief of Jones. Short quick arm that was 79-81 during hit outing with feel for two pitches. Long term I think Terrell serves best at second base and center field may be an option as well. There is some lean strength in the frame and the bat shows ability to hit for average with occasional doubles power.

Preseason All-State II

Terrell is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that still has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from an upright open stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, slightly uphill swing path, strong at contact point, exit velocity was 80. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands. Clean exchange, works through the ball, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, velocity was 76. Ran a 4.15 home to first.
