LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The Southern Section is into the second week of playoffs while a couple other sections will begin their postseason next week and the remaining sections the week after that. While playoff baseball will determine section champions over the coming weeks, the games will also have an impact on the Power 25 as this week three teams dropped out after first round losses. With three new teams entering the Power 25 this week, we can only assume there will be more changes as we march towards a final Power 25 for the 2024 California high school baseball season.

The Top Five:

The first four teams remain the same as Corona (#1), Orange Lutheran (#2), and Harvard Westlake (#3) all won their opening round CIF-SS Playoff games last week and advanced to the second round this week. Granada (Livermore) remains in the No. 4 spot after another undefeated week that saw them win two games. Santa Margarita moved into the No. 5 spot after winning their opening round playoff game in convincing fashion.

Risers/Newcomers:

+ Huntington Beach moved up into the Top 10 after their first round playoff win. The Oilers are playing some of their best baseball at the right time and are primed for another deep playoff run. Up next is a second round game against streaking Villa Park.

+ Liberty (Bakersfield) enters the Power 25 with a 22-4 record that includes a 10-game winning streak. The Patriots sit atop the South Yosemite League with a record of 11-1 and a five game lead in the conference.

+ Centennial (Corona) enters the Power 25 with a 22-6 record while being the top seed in the CIF-SS Division III playoffs. They won their opening round game last week and will be tested in Round Two against a very stout Arrowhead Christian team.

+ Redwood (Larkspur) has won eight of their last nine games and sit at 21-3 overall this season and sit atop the Marin County League. With one game this week against Marin Catholic, the Giants are in good position for one of the top seeds in the CIF-NCS playoffs that begging next week.
