Uncommitted Spotlight - '24 OF/RHP Wes Lynch (O'Dea)

Not many prospects have improved their tools and boosted their player profile as much as Lynch has in the past year. At 6’3, 175, the frame offers present size and an athletic trim with projection left to tap into. A smooth runner, recently posted a 6.93 in the 60 on a grass track. Utilizes long, ranging strides in the OF with closing speed as he tracks the ball. Possesses arguably the strongest defensive arm in the entire 2024 class for any position. He’s been up to 94 mph from the OF at his best and consistently rips off throws in the low 90s. It’s a long, smooth arm path with late intent and a whippy finish. Offensively he hits from a quiet, relaxed set up with very upright posture. Hands start low and relaxed before he uses a controlled load with a low leg lift. Slightly uphill barrel allows him to get consistent lift and the power has potential to play to all fields. Peak EV of 97.6 at his last workout. Has shown aptitude to handle velocity while keeping enough barrel control to adjust his swing plane. The arm talent translates to the mound as well where he’s been up to 85.2 mph and can shape a quality breaking ball. One of the top overall skill sets and athletic packages still available in the class.

Positional Profile: OF/RHP Toolsy OF with gas in the tank on the mound.
Body: 6-3, 175-pounds. Loose strength. Wiry build.
Hit: RHH. Upright start, hands close to body. Hands go back while front leg moves into wide launch position. Weight stays on backside until contact point. Fast hands come up through the zone. Connection holds through contact point. Finishes slightly on front side before releases back. Pull side approach with line drive or ground ball approach. 71.3 mph bat speed with 18 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 98 max exit velocity, averaged 88.9 mph. 293' max distance. Fast hands lead to high top exit velo.
Arm: RH. OF-94 mph. Takes a couple gather steps while long arm motion delivers throws. Very whippy motion with arm to get lots of zip behind throws. Keeps front shoulder closed and fires from over top with momentum towards home plate.
Defense: Charges ground balls hard with quick feet. Takes time to build mometum into strong throws. Uses speed to get to balls to right and left.
ATH: 6.93 runner in the 60. Builds momentum with long strides.
