AHSAA Final 4 Team Capsule: G.W. Long Rebels (27-11)

Coach Drew Miller and the G.W. Long Rebels will be hosting St. Luke's in the 2A state semifinals today (Wednesday, May 9) in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 and the "if necessary game" would be Thursday, May 10 at 4:00 PM.

With a rich baseball tradition, the Rebels look to continue their winning ways against a very formidable opponent in St. Luke's. The winner will advance to the state finals in Montgomery with the 2A finals beginning Monday, May 14 at 6:00 PM at Patterson Field (games 2 and a possible game 3 would be Tuesday, May 15 at 10:00 at Riverwalk Stadium).

G. W. Long will bring a roster mixed with juniors and seniors into the semifinal showdown.

Matthew Snell RHP / G.W. Long, AL / 2019

Committed to Troy University, leads the team with a .477 BA to go along with 15 2B's, 4 HR's and 45 RBI's.

Doubles on the mound with a 5-2 record, 71 ⅓ IP, allowing 58 hits, striking out 79 with a 1.82 ERA.

Dylan Register SS / G.W. Long, AL / 2018

Lurleen B. Wallace CC signee, brings a .462 BA, 11 2B's, 2 3B's, 5 HR's and 39 RBI's into the series.

On the mound, is 9-0 in 62 ⅔ IP, only allowing 33 hits with 93 K's and a 1.77 ERA.

Currently hitting . 391 with 35 RBI's

Christian Collier C / G.W. Long, AL / 2019

Currently hitting .383 with 17 2B's, 1 3B, 4 HR's and 38 RBI's.
