East TN Top Prospect Games - Pitchers

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

The 2018 East Tennessee Top Prospect Games took place on Wednesday, June 27th at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Volunteers.  At least that was the plan.  We ended up never stepping foot on the field due to rain, but were able to have pitchers throw bullpens in the indoor facility.  Players were afforded the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of the PBR Tennessee staff and college coaches in attendance. The following is a look at every pitcher at the event:

RHETT HAMMONTREE / SS / RHP / DALTON, GA / 2020

Max FB: 85, FB: 83-84, CB: 72-74, CH: 78-79, SL: 74-75
6-foot-0, 155-pound, RHP showed intriguing 2-way potential w/ super quick arm.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable.  Pitches from a full wind-up into a ¾ release point from the middle to first base side of the rubber.  Quick arm w/ short hip turn to create deception.  Occasionally throws across his body.  Rotational throw, hips don’t quite get all the way back around, costing him a couple ticks of velocity.  Angle.  FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  CB is a slurve w/ typical ¾ breaking ball movement.  Blends with the SL, which showed similar break, but a little firmer.  CH w/ occasional cut.  Around the zone, projects to command his 4-pitch mix.
