Lucas Messer: C/OF, (2024) Framingham, MA. 5-foot-9, 180-pound. Above average and athletic in the box, Messer's best exit velocity was 88 mph. (75.2 mph bat speed average). (21.9 mph hand speed average). Starts in a wide balanced stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was quick, used an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. While catching, his strong arm produced efficient throws to second at velocities up to 79 mph; showed a natural clean transfer, soft hands, and athletic quick feet. consistently had pop times of 2.06-2.10. Clean setup. Had a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.0 at the event.
