Jones-Sylvia has a long and athletic frame. The 6-foot-3, 160 pound left-handed hitting first baseman uses long limbs to create good leverage with his swing and good extension on the mound. At the plate, he showed a tee exit velocity of 73 mph. The initial set-up utilizes his length, hitting out of a tall narrow stance. The stride is started with a knee slide and a pushing back of the hands. The bat-path is direct to and through contact and remains balanced.
Defensively, the feet were deliberate as he moved to get into the fielding position. The glove had a good angle, out in front. As he transferred through the ground ball, the feet were able to get the body into a good, balanced throwing position. The arm-swing was long as he threw 73 mph across the diamond.
On the mound, he continued to utilize his length. He worked out of a modified stretch, to simplify the movements. He was able to get to a good balance point, before separating and heading down the mound. The arm slot is a higher, over the top slot and looks like it’s right on top of hitters with his long limbs. The fastball was located well at 70-72 mph. He also showed a cutter at 64-66 mph with tight spin. The breaking pitch was 63-64 mph with good spin. He also showed a change-up with split-type action at 66-69 mph.

6-foot-2, 140-pound, thin, long, athletic frame. Longer neck, with sloped shoulders, has plenty of room for added weight. A left-handed hitting two-way player, at the plate, shows to have pop from the left side. The stance is spread out, even feet, relaxed loose hands at the shoulders, with the bat starting in a flat position. The swing path is level, slight pull approach with cutting across, could stay through it a tick longer. For timing uses a toe tap, stride gains ground and is under control. The hands are super loose, work with easy effort, had a tee exit velocity of 71 mph, with a ton more in with added strength gains. Defensively, threw 68 mph across the diamond, arm works from a lower slot. The footwork was accurate when fielding, was low to the ground, moved throughout. Double play starts were clean, gaining ground with flow. Off the mound, uses more of a hybrid delivery, arm action is longer, working out of a low 3/4 slot. The direction and tracking of the frontside, need to stay on target a bit longer. The fastball was clocked 68-69 mph, located down in the zone. The breaking ball was clocked at 58-59 mph, has a bigger break needs to have more fastball hand speed. Strength is a must will aid in all areas of his development, interesting prospect.
