Matthew Mariani: RHP/SS, (2026) The Governor’s Academy, MA. 160-pound athletic lean build. Projectable at the plate, Mariani had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. (70.7 mph bat speed average). (20.8 mph hand speed average). Started in a narrow open stance with a controlled load, then used a closed small stride. Bat speed was developing, showed an uphill swing plane and a front foot finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Capable while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 74 mph; has a natural exchange, developing soft hands, and developing consistent feet. Movements laterally were developing and he fields the ball out front. Used a ¾ slot with a consistent arm action. Projectable on the mound, used a consistent arm action and a ¾ arm angle while showing developing arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses some effort. Displays in line shoulders with an consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 81-82 mph; had arm side control and running sinking action.
