6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball is true, sitting at 77 mph. The changeup is a 72 mph, showed the correct spin and fade to the ball. The frame projects to add weight and grow a bit. The arm works well, clean in motion. The slot is slightly above ¾ and works freely. Pitches with an athletic lift and go to the plate, pulling the glove across the hitters face as he gets into foot strike. The direction of his feet are appropriate and he does a very good job of tracking his front shoulder to foot strike. Throws strikes and competes. The frame needs added weight and he needs to continue to get stronger to aid a velocity jump. Interesting follow on the mound as he is a converted catcher.
Right-handed hitting catcher who is vastly improving. The frame projects very well and the tools are there to be a guy. Worked out behind the dish and at first base, throwing 74 mph from both spots. Behind the dish the arm is loose and free, the feet get him a little stretched out at times but it works fine. Pop time of 2.13, and I expect to improve significantly in the next year. Shows soft receiving skills and the ability to handle all kinds of pitching. Ran a 4.85 down the line of his dig. The bat has a clean path to it and the hands work very well to contact, with added strength, I like his chances offensively. Tee exit velocity of 83 mph.
6/29/16
Right-handed hitting catcher who continues to get better every time we see him. Pop time of 2.13 as he to get his feet under him a little better. Building arm strength as he threw 68 mph from back there. The receiving is soft and will continue to improve with hard work. Physical strength to the frame will help him hold up catching on a daily basis. Ran a 4.68 on his dig to first base. I like the path of the bat and the potential. Stands in there really well. Tee exit velocity is 77 mph now but as he starts a weight room regiment that will quickly climb. The stance is wide with a relaxed hand start. The bottom half is under control and he throws the barrel to the ball with good direction. He is trending in the right direction for me, tools are all there, just needs to continue to work at it.
3/24/16
Right-handed hitting catcher who is lanky and yet to grow into his frame. Receiving was solid and he showed arm strength, with carry to his throws. Pop time of 2.08 and threw 68 from behind the dish. The transfer and footwork can improve with maturation, but I like where he is right now. The arm works well. At the plate, had a tee exit velocity of 77. Sets up with a wide base and a high back elbow, even hands. The hands work well and he has a knee to knee trigger on the bottom half. The barrel stays above the ball, good approach. Body needs strength. A catcher to follow with growth.
