November 5, 2018
PBR Iowa strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

PBR: Why did you choose DMACC?
VAN NESS: I need a lot more work on my mechanics and just wanted to gain some more muscle before going on to play at a 4 year school.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
VAN NESS: I actually wanted to go to DMACC before they saw me play.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
VAN NESS: They saw me pitch in Omaha in one of the PBR tournaments and he really liked what I showed him.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
VAN NESS: It feels great to know where I'm going and not have to worry about getting my name out there or going to any other camps.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
VAN NESS: I trusted a couple players that have went there and trusted that they were telling the truth. I have heard nothing but good news about their coaching staff and program so I knew that was the place I wanted to go.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
VAN NESS: My dad and I had a dream that one day I would play college baseball and he has truly inspired me to work hard every day and be the best player I can be.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
VAN NESS: I thought it was kind of difficult because I didn't really put my name out there that well.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
VAN NESS: Just to help me develop my game and improve my mechanics.
PBR: What is your most memorable moment to date?
VAN NESS: I would say hitting the farthest home run I have ever hit at Creston and playing next to each one of my teammates every single day and knowing they have my back no matter what.
PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
VAN NESS: I would say Garrett Reisz is the best player and most competitive player I have ever played against. He always proved that he was better than anyone he played.
