OTHERS TO WATCH: RHP Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson HS, IA) is the state’s No. 1 prospect and an Arizona State recruit. Van Scoyoc has seemingly been on the up-tick through the spring producing high-80s to low-90s velocity with flashes of an above average breaking ball. RHP Clayton Nettleton (Davenport West HS, IA), an Iowa recruit, has been a model of consistency over the last year maintaining, upper 80s to low 90s, solid feel for a breaking ball, and command of both pitches to both sides of the plate. OF Levi Usher (Cedar Rapids Prairie HS, IA) is an intriguing athlete flashing above average running speed and arm strength from the outfield. He is raw at the plate but his tool set will put scouts in a position to strongly consider using a pick on him. RHP Tyler Lewis (West Des Moines Valley HS, IA) has received interest as well showing a power fastball that has reached as high as 95 mph. Scouts will have to weigh out his positives, raw arm strength and large durable build, against his inconsistent command and ability to throw strikes.
