PBR IA COMMITMENT SPOTLIGHT

PBR: Why did you choose Southeastern CC?
KAUZLARICH: Coach Shulte and Bartt Carney, my hitting coach, have always been friends and always liked how I played, so whenever I got an offer I felt as if it's a smart decision since Bartt was a big fan.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
KAUZLARICH: I never really worried or cared about college because I always told myself if I was good enough I shouldn't have to worry about that, it should take care of itself but DMACC was another college I was considering but Southeastern felt right.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
KAUZLARICH: Coach Shulte watched me at Principal Park 9th grade when it was first brought to my attention but Bartt always talked to them for me so I could just focus on playing.  Bartt was always the middle man for us, I owe a lot to Bartt for everything.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
KAUZLARICH: I feel relieved knowing where I am going after high school and just focus on getting better until I get over there and they do the rest.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
KAUZLARICH: I have always wanted to go JUCO then hopefully D1 and they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
KAUZLARICH: Bartt Carney has helped me develop as a baseball player since the fourth grade and if it weren't for him I would not be the baseball player I am today.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
KAUZLARICH: It was very easy considering it was my first visit and first college I talked to.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
KAUZLARICH: I know they are hoping I can fill the spot of their centerfielder now which I have heard he is a very good baseball player so I have big shoes to fill.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
KAUZLARICH: Standing in centerfield watching my left fielder, Tiger Terpstra chase down a line drive to win the 2A state championship and running to the dog pile.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
KAUZLARICH: I have competed against and with very good players in my career but one that stands out is Evan Borst. He made plays I have not seen a lot of people make in our substate game.
