PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Van Veldhuizen: I chose Kirkwood because the coaching staff and facilities are the best of the best. Also, I get to be a part of what could be a very good class coming into Kirkwood, and I jumped at that opportunity.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Van Veldhuizen: The coaching staff saw me at a high school game when they were watching one of my teammates who had committed there the previous year. After the junior showcase they were one of the schools that began recruiting me.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Van Veldhuizen: I am very relieved to have finished the process, and I am excited for the upcoming season.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Van Veldhuizen: Kirkwood’s facilities and coaching staff just really make you want to play for them because everything is done the right way, and everything is high quality.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Van Veldhuizen: My parents, all of my coaches, and my teammates.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Van Veldhuizen: I thought that it would be easier than it was. It was difficult to rule out schools that I also really liked.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Van Veldhuizen: The coaching staff has not determined who has what roles, but they said that coming in I could earn innings in my freshman year.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Van Veldhuizen: Qualifying for state and making the all-tournament team in Jupiter, Florida.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
Van Veldhuizen: Calvin Harris
