Nicholas Hoffman, RHP, Trinity HS, 2015

Nicholas Hoffman is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound with a projectable frame.  At the Kentucky Top Prospect Games event at Eastern Kentucky University in June, Hoffman showed long and loose arm action that produced an 81-83 mph fastball that touched 84.  His 66-67 mph curveball showed tight spin with 11/5 action, and he showed the ability to locate it in the strike zone. 

Hoffman’s frame projects well, and there should be more velocity to come for the junior right-hander.  He was effective at the varsity level for Trinity last year in a limited role and will undoubtedly be key in the Shamrocks’ rotation in 2014.
