PBR Kentucky Player of the Week (May 10-15): RHP/SS Dalton Davenport

Chris Fuller
Kentucky Director of Scouting

davenportIt was another week where there were several worthy performances to be considered for PBR Kentucky Player of The Week, but one player's performance stood out, and nearly set a state record in the process.

Dalton Davenport, a senior RHP/SS from Nicholas County, put on a show last Friday night against Frankfort. The Roane State recruit worked 9.2 scoreless innings before being removed from the game due to pitch count limits. Nicholas County would eventually go on to win the game 3-0 in 13 innings.

Take a look at Davenport's final stat line from that outing.

9.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 25 K

That's not a typo. Davenport racked up 25 strikeouts in the 29 outs he recorded. He also didn't walk a batter in his 9.2 innings of work. The 25 strikeouts represents the second most strikeouts recorded by a pitcher in an extra inning game in KHSAA history.

For the week, Davenport also contributed four hits in four games offensively including a double and 3 RBI.

For the season, Davenport is 5-0 the mound with a 0.57 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 37 innings. He is also hitting .463 with 9 doubles, a triple, 3 home runs, and 32 RBI.

For his outstanding performance on the field, Dalton Davenport has been selected the PBR Kentucky Player of The Week for May 10-15.
