PBR: Why did you choose Nebraska-Omaha?

I chose UNO because of the culture that is in place. Coach Porter is really changing the program around and it is something I want to be a part of. All of the coaches made me feel at home whenever I was on campus and it felt right. Also, the distance played a factor so my friends and family can come watch me play.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

My only other offer was from Fairleigh Dickinson University. However, I was in regular contact with Ball State, Arkansas State, Memphis, and Emporia State.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

From what I know, Coach Porter and Coach Strawn first saw me play in the Nebraska Prospects tournament this fall. From there, Coach Porter invited me to a practice and then onto a campus visit. Since then, we have talked almost bi-weekly just making sure we were both on the same page.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

I think the biggest factor was that I felt at home. Every time I was on campus, everything felt right. Also, the ability for my friends and family to come watch me whenever they choose is a major plus. UNO always plays the best competition in the nation and I have always believed that to be the best, you have to beat the best.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

My parents. They have both sacrificed time and money for me to be able to get the best opportunities and exposure in the country. I definitely would not be where I am today without them. Along with my parents, help from my high school coaches, Coach Anderson, Coach Eber, and Coach Mahalek. They have always believed in me and given me the opportunities to be a leader. Lastly, my travel coaches, Coach Scott Stahlecker, Coach Shea Bennett, and Coach Brian Southworth. They took a lot of time this summer and fall to make sure we were getting better each and every day and to go to big tournaments throughout the country. There are many other coaches that have helped me get to where I am.

PBR: You've played for the Nebraska Prospects team who won the PBR Fall Championship, what has that experience like?

It was an absolute blast. We played the best competition all summer and fall and it definitely prepared us for tournaments like that. It was a lot of fun to prove people wrong that Nebraska kids actually can play baseball at a high level.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

The coaching staff told me that I would have the opportunity to earn playing time right away, but they emphasized many times that I am not going to be promised anything. I have to earn it through hard work, not only in the classroom, but in all aspects of the game.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

My most memorable baseball moment was playing in the WWBA World Championships in Fort Myers, Florida this fall. We made a great run deep into the playoffs, all the way up to the Sweet 16. We opened a ton of eyes and showed what Nebraska kids can do.

PBR: Who is the best player you have competed against?

That is a tough question. There are many excellent players that I have played against in my baseball career. I would probably say Cayden Wallace. He is from Arkansas and is committed to the University of Arkansas. He could hit anything that came his way, no matter the pitch or location.
