PBR: Why did you choose Northwestern?

I was looking for a smaller school and campus. When I visited Northwestern, I immediately felt a sense of community. The thing that stuck out to me the most, however, was their academic record and how great the facilities were.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Morningside, Doane, Midland; mostly NAIA schools.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

I first met the head coach on a campus visit and we really connected. I went up later with the Strike Zone Elite Team to scrimmage them. After that, I went up for a practice, and Coach Wede and I have kept in touch since then.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Absolutely! I feel like it pushes me harder, though, both in the cages and in the classroom to be able to succeed at the college level.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

I felt really connected into the community they have at Northwestern, and I could see myself going there when I was on campus. It felt like a good fit from the start.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
I would say first my dad; he taught me the fundamentals and love of the game. My first high school coach, Trevor Cissel, at the Millard Sox helped me stick to the game after I got cut from Westside. Finally, my coach at Omaha North, Eric Janecek, put me on Field Level and helped me get recruited.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

I’d say it was easier than I expected. Once I got my name/stats out there and started visiting colleges, I started hearing from coaches. In my case, I fell in love with Northwestern for both their academics and athletics, so it was easy to make a decision. I reached out to the Coach Wede and he was very open about his expectations and interest in me. The process went very smoothly from there.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Coach Wede said he plans to start me out on the JV in the fall, playing on the corners. I plan to put in the hard work necessary to be a valuable member of the program.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

I would have to say it was the time I hit my very first high school homerun for the Omaha North Legion team on the same field (Ralston) where my dad hit his first homerun in high school, also for Omaha North.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

I would have to say the best pitcher I’ve faced is Josh Culliver. I remembered him because we went to the same elementary school, and he can bring it.

PBR: Going into your senior season, what are your expectation for you team?

I expect us to be good competitors this season at Omaha North. As with every team, it’s up to us how we want the season to turn out.
