This is part of a series of stories on summer baseball organizations that "partner" with Prep Baseball Report. The PBR Scout Day is scheduled for Feb. 17.

How many current teams and what levels (15u, 16u, etc): 5 teams for Spring/Summer 2020: 13U, 14U Blue, 14U Grey, 16U, 17U
Influential coaches past and present:
The Boys of Summer coaches provide the highest quality of instruction and dedication. We treat every player fairly and with the utmost respect. Our coaches believe in practice, a strong work ethic and positive attitude. We will work to build self-confidence and character in every player. We teach the skills, discipline and physical conditioning for every player to take their game to the next level. Winning is not as important as preparing players to succeed at their next level, getting them college exposure, and guiding them on their journey to that next level.
Finally, The Boys of Summer coaches teach every player that true winners understand that the path you take on your journey is as important as the destination you arrive at.
The very first team for The Boys of Summer was established in the Fall of 2016. Heading into our fifth spring/summer season we will be fielding five teams. Although we’ve grown to as many as 10 teams and more than 140 players, we’ve intentionally scaled back to a more manageable size making it easier to stay true to our philosophy and goal of maintaining a high-quality learning & growth environment for our players.
We are proud of the evolution the program has made over the past five seasons. The Boys of Summer organization has become known for grooming quality, virtuous players who have a passion for the game of baseball. The Boys of Summer always “bring energy to the field” and are frequently sought after by college coaches.
PBR has been a great partner in our players pursuit to play at the next level. Our players have gained exposure through multiple Scout Days and other PBR events. However, more importantly PBR has helped our players with starting the recruiting journey. Establishing an online player profile and an unbiased evaluation of skills is an essential step in this journey and wouldn’t be possible without the help of PBR and Trevor Brown (New England Director of Scouting).
We begin our spring/summer 2020 season with winter workouts that start in January and progress through March when our HS players go back to their HS teams. Our 13U and 14U non-HS team will begin games in April and run through July. Our 14U, 16U and 17U teams will start up after the HS season in early June and run through early August.
All teams will play competitive league schedules with showcase type tournaments throughout the summer except the 17U team. The 17U team is playing a very competitive tournament schedule that is geared around college exposure and recruiting opportunities.
Our home field is Derby HS in Derby, Ct. Our winter sessions are held at Arete Academy in Milford, Ct. (formerly CT Speed School) and InSports, Trumbull, Ct.
