James (Austin) BulmanOne day after reaching the 20 win plateau for the 40th consecutive season Jefferson was stretched to extra innings before winning in walk off fashion in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Cougars, No. 1 in the most recent Metro News AAA Power Rankings, got a bases loaded, one out single from Jordan Beans to move to 21-2 on the season.

Beans also picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Austin Bulman. The senior righty worked five hitless innings with three strikeouts. Bulman worked the first three innings allowing two earned runs on two hits. Hedgesville starter Adam Weaver was the hard luck loser after working seven plus innings.

Cameron AlvarezJefferson scored an unearned run in the first but Hedgesville answered in the top of the 3rd inning when Chris Festerman singled to lead off and scored on a double by Buster Lord. Following a sacrifice bunt, Lord scored on a wild pitch to give Hedgesville an early 2-1 lead.

Jefferson set the stage for the walkoff win in the bottom of the 6th inning when senior Cameron Alvarez walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a ground out off the bat of Bailey Dodson.

Bulman went 2-for-3 to lead the Cougars' six hit attack. Hedgesville was limited to just the two hits that led to their scoring in the 3rd inning.
