The 2019 West Virginia High School Baseball season is in full swing in the Mountain State. This week's Spotlight Game of the Week takes us to Mylan Park in Morgantown as the Patriots from Parkersburg South travel to take on the Morgantown Mohigans. First pitch is set for 5:30 pm.

The Patriots come into Friday's matchup riding a season high three game winning streak with wins over Huntington, Ripley, and University. South is led at the plate by 2019 outfielder Drew Cochran. He comes into this game blazing hot at the plate, racking up a .444 avg (12-for-27), 9 RBI, and an OPS of 1.001. Following closely behind Cochran are 2019 catcher Nick Yoho and 2020 shortstop Blake McMullen. Yoho is slugging at a .400 avg (12-for-30) clip, while McMullen isn't far behind with a .385 avg (10-for-26).

On the mound, the Patriots will look to 2020 left-hander Colin Bryant. In 11 innings the junior has surrendered only two earned runs while striking out five with an ERA of 1.27.

The Mohigans enter this game winners of four out of their first five contests. Morgantown presents a huge challenge for the Patriots as the Mohigans will have at their disposal four of the top hitters in the state, all hitting over .500. Led by 2019 catcher Caleb Taylor who comes in scalding hot with a .588 avg (10-for-17) and an OPS of 1.917 while slugging at 1.235. Taylor also has three home runs through five games this season. 2019 third basemen Devon Neal enters with a .545 avg. (6-for-11) with a home run and eight walks. 2019 outfielder Colton Matthews brings a .529 avg (9-for-17), including three doubles and a home run. Rounding out the four headed monster is 2019 shortstop Quintin Smith. Smith enters with a .500 avg (8-for-16) with three doubles and a home run.

Morgantown will hand the ball to 2020 left-hander Carter Patrick. Patrick has logged six innings on the season, all coming last Saturday against Jefferson. He has six strikeouts to only one walk and an ERA of 1.16.
