Preseason All-State Showcase Analysis: Catcher Kurt Latocha

Kurt Latocha hit .555 with nine doubles and 21 RBI as a sophomore earning Class A First Team All-State recognition. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound junior, currently ranked No. 8 in the WV Class of 2015 made the trip to Manheim, Pennsylvania last weekend to showcase his talents along with 32 other catchers from four states.
Latocha registered a 4.40 home-to-1B time and showcased pop times of 2.16-2.18 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch. The right-handed hitter displayed a 78 mph bat exit velocity during his round of batting practice. Latocha starts from a slightly open stance with a high hands load and displayed the ability to use all fields with a line drive approach.
The group of catchers assembled for the event were very impressive. Following is a look at the top performances of the 33 catchers that participated.
