Tristan Lucas (University HS) made his trip from Morgantown to Manheim, PA for the Preseason All-State Showcase a worthwhile experience. The 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter displayed improved mechanics at the plate and the results were evident. Lucas barreled the baseball routinely during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. The right-handed hitter made improvements to his swing path getting to full extension routinely a month after showing some issues with his swing at a PBR event in Pittsburgh.
Lucas showcased his athletic potential with a 3.97 home-to-1B time from the right side of the plate and displayed fluid actions in the field. The junior also displayed an accurate arm on throws of 80 mph to home plate. With the improvements he has made to his swing, and his foot speed, Lucas could easily build on his .351 average from his sophomore season in 2013.
