3/16/25

One of the stronger players on site, 6-foot-3, 220-pound 2027 grad Colton Ullyett-French had a good day. At the plate he took big swings from the left side, reaching a max exit velocity of 95.9 mph, a carry distance of 345 feet and a sweet spot percentage of 71%. French also got on the mound, working 81-83 mph with his fastball, while mixing in a curveball & changeup. A former Junior Future Gamer, French is a player to keep an eye on.

2/13/25

We got an updated look at 2027 Colton Ullyett-French as he stayed off the mound on this day and focused strictly on hitting. Now standing 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, French still has time on his side to put it all together, but he's on his way. The swing is flat and still carries some violence for a player his age. With a line-drive percentage of 50%, the former Junior Future Gamer reached a peak exit velocity of 90.6 mph, and a carry distance of 260 feet, while catching the sweet spot at a 66% clip. Defensively he's got good footwork and actions at first base, making plays with calmness and confidence. We'll continue to track French as he matures into his frame.

8/23/24
Ullyett-French was Alberta’s aircraft carrier on offence throughout the week as he went 7-for-13 (.615) with a double, two walks and HBP. Physically-advanced for his age at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds has the ability to impact the baseball in ways not many Canadian 2027s can (102.8mph EV). On the mound, the Okotoks Dawgs product sat 81-84mph over one inning and picked up all three outs via the strikeout. Spotty command but the stuff is overpowering for his age when working in the zone. One of several high-profile players in Alberta’s loaded 2027 class.
7/17/24

Ulyett-French is one of the most physically advanced and talented 2027s in the country. At 6-foot-3, 220-pounds there’s plenty of present strength, but that’s not all. Along with that strength, there’s bat speed that he was able to get up to 83 mph at the Calgary Future Games Trials. Having both a strength based and twitch based swing is a welcome sign as he continues to develop. He has a max exit velocity of 102 mph and showed advanced feel for the barrel, both at the Okotoks Dawgs Scout Day and the Calgary Future Games Trials with an average exit velocity of 88 mph and 95 mph, respectively. He has also shown the ability to elevate consistently. Although it’s only batting practice, that trait is extremely valuable in-game as the least productive batted ball is a ground ball. Avoiding those will add to Ulyett-French’s success and make him more effective as he continues to develop.

8/01/23

Uylett-French is extremely physical for his age at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds and it shows up at the plate with a peak exit velocity of 94.6 mp. Ullett-French showed some feel for the barrel, but his power did not show up in game, although there is power potential promise at the plate. Defensively, he moves well for his large stature and has soft hands and an arm that works across the diamond. A must follow in Alberta’s 2027 class.

4/27/23

The physical 6-foot-2,220-pound 2027 had one of the better overall days at the event. It started on the mound where he got up to 78 mph with the fastball while pounding the zone with all 3 of his offerings. His curveball has some late bite that will become more effective as he works on locating it down. At the dish, Ulyett-French was just as impressive. He was able to get the ball in the air with authority, producing the highest exit velocity on the day of 90 mph, despite being one the younger players. He’ll be an intriguing follow this coming season to see what he’s able to do in game action.
