Brooks continues to have one of the most dominant summers in the province. Having already been one of the top defensive players, the bat has taken major strides and is now impactful at the top of any lineup. At the St. Joseph’s Scout Day, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound shortstop ran a 6.78 60-yard dash and was 86 mph across the infield. He moves well laterally with athleticism and has the ability to stay at the premium position at the next level. At the plate, Brooks showed the ability to use the entire field with authority. His barrel control has taken major strides and showed the ability to hit competitive arms.

Brooks has always been known as one of the top defensive players in his class. However, since the start of the Baseball Alberta Elite League season, he has been amongst the leaders in many of their offensive categories. The uncommitted shortstop has shown present bat-to-ball and improved strength, most noticeably to his pull-side. As a 7-flat runner, he moves well on the infield and will stick up the middle at the next level with a mid-80s arm across the diamond. At 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, the St. Joseph’s Academy product will continue to mature physically and add strength.

Brooks has always been known for his defensive abilities, as one of the best defensive infielders in his class. However, over the offseason his bat has taken major strides making him a threat on both sides of the ball. He uses his athleticism to generate torque and bat speed which allows him to drive the ball with authority up the middle and to the opposite field gap, reaching a max exit velocity of 92.4 mph. With present bat-to-ball and the athleticism Brooks shows on both sides of the ball, the ceiling is high for the 2024 SS who will be looking to make an impact at the dish in-game when the season kicks off.
