The left-handed hitting cleanup hitter for the Salukis is short to the ball at the plate with good balance, bat speed and extension. This combination of abilities has led him to a .423 batting average with nine doubles and two home runs to start the 2021 season. With good plate discipline and the ability to extend an at-bat, Peters has walked (20) nearly twice as many times as he’s struck out (11) in 119 plate appearances. With plus speed he has swiped 10 of 11 bases. Although he showed below average arm strength, he looked to be an above average defender in center field. Previous to SIU, Peters was an NJCAA Gold Glove winner at Chandler-Gilbert CC (Ariz.) in 2019.
