Strong-armed senior closer Brandon Johnson entered in the 8th and closed the door on the Hawgs. He ran his heater up to 98, punched out three and did not allow a base runner during his two inning save. Of his 22 pitches, 19 were fastballs that were delivered with a "here it is, come and get it" intent. With that said, the 6-foot, super-competitive right-hander is not just some max effort thrower. He spotted his mostly 95-97 mph fastball to both sides of the plate, expanding to his armside and earning a couple extra inches off the black. Two of his three strikeouts were looking, including the game's final out.
