Player Spotlight

Austin Rainey: LHP/OF, (2022) Conway, AR. 6-foot-1, 165-pound lean athletic frame. Athletic at the plate, Rainey recorded an exit velocity of 92 mph. Starts in an open balanced stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a short stride. Has a short simple swing plane, average bat speed and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 77 mph; has soft sure hands, athletic rhythmic feet, and a quick fluid exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. Recorded a time of 7.18 in the 60-yard dash. Projectable on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a long arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Lands square with an athletic finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 77-80 mph; had a straight fastball that showed running action and arm side control. Throws a 2/8 curveball (65-69) with tight action and low in the zone command. Has arm side command and fading action on his straight changeup (70-73).

Body: 6-foot-1, 165-pound lean  athletic frame.

Hit: (RHH) Began in an open balanced stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a short stride. Average bat speed. Good extension on his finish, short simple swing. Gap to gap approach.

Power: 92 mph exit velocity, average 84.90 mph. 66.33 mph bat speed average. 20.77 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (OF) Soft sure hands, athletic rhythmic footwork, quick fluid exchange. Solid.  Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic.

Arm: 77 mph outfield velocity. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.

Speed: 7.18 (60-yard).

Pitching: Projectable. Feel delivery, easy effort. High ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed, long arm action. Lands square, an athletic finish.

FB: T80. 77-80 mph. (Max spin 2190;  Avg 2090). Arm side accuracy, running action, straight movement.

CB: 65-69 mph. Low in the zone command, tight action, 2/8 shape. (Max spin 1980; Avg 1894).

CH: 70-73 mph. Arm side command, fading action, straight movement.

6-Foot-1, 155-Pound frame, thin frame with athleticism and room for added strength, ran a 7.57, Offensively; open set narrow base, leg lift to stride, barrel rhythm to barrel set, back knee leverages liner path, loft to swing, gap to gap approach, repeats positioning, 83 mph exit velo, Defensively; attacks ball fields outside right side, funnel to midline, long arm swing, clean stroke, some arm side run, 77 mph arm strength.

Pitching: high ¾ slot, long arm action, even land closed toe landing, strong front side, repeats delivery, feel for zone, fastball 78-80 mph, late action with sneaky life and some arm side run, curveball 66-70 mph, 1-7 shape, sharp break fastball like feel for pitchin zone, change up 72 mph, fastball arm speed, arm side run with occasional fade. Feel for pitch.
