6/27/18 - 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Strong, physical build. Childers is coming off an outstanding spring season at Desert Vista and has always shown an ability to sink his fastball and get outs, inducing tons of soft contact. On this day Childers touched 85 mph, which should help elevate his prospect status as we've previously seen him more in the low-80's. Showed feel for his curveball that featured proper 11/5 shape at 69-74 mph. Given the ¾ release and the sinking life of his fastball, developing more of a real slider may suit Childers arsenal better down the road. Change up was thrown at 74-76 mph with impressive sink and fade that should help neutralize platoon splits.
