6/12/19

6’5 220-pound frame. Wide, square set up with hands shoulder height. Small toe tap when loading into back side, striding back to square. Barrel works into the zone early. Middle approach with some pop to his pull side. Timing will need to improve. Exit velo at 86 MPH. Worked around the baseball well to get long legs started early. High set up. Clean transfer with arm at 74 MPH and pop time of 2.03 and 2.13.

1/27/19 Uncommitted 6’5 210 pound, projectable frame with lots of room for strength. Small toe tap as he loads into back side, strides to same width he starts in. Pull approach with potential for power as strength develops. Pop time came in at 2.28-2.4. Gains a lot of ground during throws to second, helping arm register at 77 MPH.

Reached 81 MPH despite not using much lower half and going from the stretch only. Fastball had late arm side life with his high ¾ arm slot. Threw breaking ball with good arm speed and came out of the same slot as fastball. Good downhill plane on all pitches.

10/14/18 - 6-foot-5, 205-pound tall, lean frame. Hits from a tall, open set up. An active load just before an aggressive transition on to the front side. At times creates hip/hands separation and doesn’t sync up as well at others. Posted 79 mph exit velocity, but we’ve seen him drive some balls in game action with significant authority. Behind the plate, the tall and lean catcher posted pop times ranging from 2.16-2.24, but showed solid 74 mph velocity for a rising sophomore. Key to better times will be improving footwork.  Body may force a move from behind the plate. 1B could be a long term fit if the bat continues to develop. Ran 7.95 60-yard dash.
