Potential two-way prospect Jake Romaine was one of the stand out players in Game 3 of the WCG’s going 2-3 with 2 2Bs. Romaine demonstrated his ability to use both sides of the field hitting a double to the pull side beating the right fielder, and a line drive down the left field line. Romaine showed a balanced lower half at the plate with a short stride putting himself in a good position to hit. On the mound Romaine sat 83-85 topping 86 while going 3in, allowing 2 runs, and forcing weak contact. Romaine’s FB spin was 2100-2200 and a Curveball spin of 2100-2200.
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-0, 190-pounds. Good frame, room to add strength.
Hit: LHH. Slight bend in the knees, hands by ear, small load, stride is slightly closed. Slight glide to front side. Bat path is direct and through the zone, consistent hard contact with true flight.
Power: 93.1 max exit velocity, averaged 77.9 mph. 293’ max distance.
Arm: OF - 82 mph. Throws from a 3/4 slot. Longer arm action, quick to release. Ball has some 2 seam flight.
Defense: Fields the ball one handed at the center of the body. Consistent footwork and glove.
Run: runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-foot-0, 200-pounds. Athletic, high waisted
Defense: Soft hands in the infield. Funnels the ball into his body, putting himself in a good position to field clean hops. Athletic footwork, spinning and throwing from a shorter arm slot with accuracy. Fields balls cleanly in the OF with a consistent release.
Arm: RH. INF - 76 mph. OF - 82 mph. Clean arm with 4 seam carry, 3/4 arm slot. Recorded at 76 mph (INF) and 82 mph (OF). Outfield throws were low through the cut and accurate. Shorter arm swing from first base.
Hit: LHH. Wider base with straight up and down leg kick. Slight barrel wrap with leg kick. Over strides on occasion. Flat and direct hand path with extension through the zone. Ball flight was true, best contact was to right center field. 87% hard contact in two rounds of BP.
Run: 7.58 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Throws from the stretch. Smooth delivery and gets down the mound well.
Arm Action: RH. Throws from a high 3/4 slot, effortless delivery.
FB: FB sat 79-82, topping at 82 mph. Good extension, gets out front well. Has some armside run. Seems to command FB better to armside.
CB:CB sat from 67-70 mph. Thrown with a spike grip. Tends to pull it, misses were gloveside down.
CH:Has some depth to it. Commanded well down in the zone. Sat 72-74 mph.
