1/28/18 - The first thing that stands out about Cammarata on the diamond is his big, durable, 6-foot-2, 235-pound frame. He produced a 92 mph exit velocity off the tee, but I thought it may have come off the bat even better than that in batting practice and in the game. Though his 7.64 60-yard dash time may be lower than where most college coaches are looking, that number was not indicative of his overall athleticism. Working at first base, Cammarata was fluent all-around with nimble footwork, and while he was not showcasing his arm on the day, the release was quick and accurate. At the plate, the strong right-hander sets up in a slight crouch with his weight evenly distributed and hands held high. Loading his hands down and back with a knee-knock stride, Cammarata demonstrates some quickness through the zone after a direct, uphill path. He shows a propensity to collapse his backside while forcing the lift of the baseball, but in-game the swing played a bit smoother, and allowed him to produce. Reports out of the state have said that Cammarata may have a chance to contribute on the mound in the future, and if true, could make him a valuable two-way player for a school at some level in college.
