Layne Henry, a 2026 middle infielder and right-handed pitcher from Notre Dame Prep, was one of the more eye-opening prospects at the Mesa Preseason ID. He showcased impressive defensive ability up the middle with smooth actions and an 82 mph arm across the infield. Henry’s arm strength stood out even more from the outfield, where he reached 92 mph. At the plate, he displayed a clean right-handed swing, producing consistent barrels with low, hard contact. On the mound, Henry ran his fastball up to 89.5 mph, further solidifying himself as a high-follow prospect heading into the spring season at NDP.

Body: 6-0, 150-pounds. 6-0, 150 pounds, tall athletic frame shows projectability
Delivery: Starts on the right side of the mound, with athletic moves down the mound with good follow through
Arm Action: RH. Low 3/4 slot with nice simple arm action
FB: T81, 78-80 mph. FB has good arm side run and late life T2113, 2027 average rpm.
SL: 69-70 mph. SL has good movement and should continue to be a quality pitch from that arm slot T2077, 2017 average rpm.
CH: 71-71 mph.
KN: 68-70 mph. KN has good movement and low spin that was alittle inconsistent
ATH: 7.31 runner in the 60. 1.83 and 4.13 10 and 30 yard splits. Above average speed with long athletic strides

Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 73 mph. 300' max distance. Great power with athletic swing, has a pull friendly swing
Arm: RH. INF-80 mph. Shows great arm across the infield with 3/4 arm
Defense: Shows good range and shows a good transiton from glove to hand, had a good bare hand play with charging
