Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6’3 210-pound frame. Starts square with hands just above shoulder height, tilting barrel as he loads. Steep barrel is caused from adding angle to his posture as hands move forward. Pull approach, with exit velo registering at 85 MPH. Short, choppy steps at 1B help him get body in line to where target is and deliver the baseball accurately. Will need to improve athleticism to stick at 1B at the next level. Arm strength was 70 MPH. On the mound, Stawiecke works his fastball in the 74-77 MPH range. Breaking ball at 62-66 with sweeping action, down below the zone.
12/27/17 - 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. Young face and body. Showed best on the mound, sitting 76-77 and touching 78 mph with his fastball from a high arm slot. Used a full windup and big old school rocker step to pound the zone throughout his bullpen. Everything shortens up from the stretch where he used a slide step exclusively. Also mixed in a developing 63-66 mph curveball and 67-68 mph with consistent fading action. LHH made solid contact in BP, using a short, simple swing with a flat path through the zone; 80 mph exit velocity. Defensively showed a tendency to play somewhat high, often bending at the waist and posting a 70 mph infield velo.
