Alain Gomez, the current #3 prospect in the state of Arizona, is arguably the top defender in the country at the catching position. At the Future Games, Gomez recorded the top pop time across the entire event, with a standout pop time of 1.74 during the workout portion. His exceptional skills behind the plate did not go unnoticed, and he is expected to receive significant attention from college coaches starting August 1. Offensively, Gomez is a switch hitter, with the left side being his dominant side. During the workout day in BP, Gomez put on an impressive show, launching numerous home runs over the right field wall from the left side. He continued to demonstrate his power in game 3 for Team Arizona by hitting a home run from the right side.
