7/18/17
5-foot-10, 170 pounds, fluid athlete, already filling out but room left for more. Throws from a high ¾ slot with an easy delivery, slow tempo. Opens up the backside a tick early but does not hyperextend it, leading to velocity climb. Two pitch mix during his outing. His fastball sat 81-84 mph, touching as high as 85 mph during the game, with movement towards the arm side, which Chiodi is still learning to command. His curveball worked mostly between 68-72 mph. Still developing his ability to spin the breaking ball in different situations but flashed potential to be an out pitch. Harnessing command of his pitches will help his stuff reach its ceiling. Chiodi is a solid follow.

3/6/17
5-foot-10, 170-pound, wiry strong, athletic frame, is well proportioned, has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, who continues to impress and is making significant progress. The arm is quick and fast, baseball gets on the catcher quick, fastball was clocked at 81-85 mph, it's heavy and has movement to both sides. The delivery has made improvements, much smoother, repeats it easier, still slightly across his body with stride foot, is in a much better position on release of the baseball. The hands have rhythm with leg raise, arm action is longer, opens it early on the backside at times. The fastball has bore action to it, was down in the zone for most of his outing. The breaking ball has made a big jump, has downward break, clocked as high as 72 mph, has climbed 7 mph in less than a year, can use it as an out pitch. The changeup, gaining feel and comfort with it, uses a circle change grip, action to the armside. Times to the plate were at 1.4-1.5. Big follow, the delivery has deception, will keep hitters on their toes in the batter's box, shows to have two above average pitches in fastball and breaking ball.

11/2/16
5-foot-10, 170-pound, average athletic frame. The shoulders are sloped, has some fast twitch to him, has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, the arm is fast and powerful, and is extremely aggressive off the bump. The delivery is repeatable, needs to smooth out the leg raise and become slightly more flexible with his hips and core, has some coil to the leg raise at its peak. The direction of lower half is inline, could keep the upper half on it a little longer. The arm works out of a high ¾ slot, fastball was 81-85 mph, with good location down and away to the arm. The breaking ball is more of slurve, was clocked at 66-68 mph, have seen more of a slider from him, has more depth to it. Showed good feel for a circle change, clocked it the high 70’s, finished it at the bottom part of zone. As he gets more comfortable with his delivery and smooths things out, the fastball should continue to climb. The arm has a chance to be pretty powerful, good follow.

7/27/16

5-foot-9, 162-pound, average athletic frame, wiry strong, has room for future development. A right-handed pitcher who has a live arm. The fastball was 81-84 with good life and sink to the armside. The delivery is a little violent at times. The hands start and stay at waist level, leg raise is high, with foot extended outward. The front leg strikes pretty hard and gets him off line. The arm action is short and clean on the backside, head loses vision on release and he slightly jerks the head. The ball jumps out of his hand, if he can clean a few things up, the command will get better and there is more in the tank for the fastball. The breaking ball was 62-65 mph, with a big break, has the hand speed to go to a slider. The changeup was at 58 mph, slowed down arm, needs to use entire body to throw this pitch. Defensively, showed good arm strength from the outfield, clocked at 82 mph, could close down the front side a little more. Offensively, hits from a wide stance, the swing is level to up, slightly long through the zone. This right-hander has a chance to be ok, arm speed and strength is above average, with work, could be a guy out of the bullpen.
