8/20/17

6-foot-3, 205 pounds, strong with sloped shoulders, already filling out physically. He has consistently improved his frame over the past year. A left-handed pitcher, the hands start high before dipping in his delivery. He has a high leg kick and hides the ball well coming out of the hand, giving him some deception before releasing the ball from a higher ¾ slot. He stays inline with good drive off the back leg. Can fall victim to elevating his fastball when the arm lags behind the rest of the body. His fastball was 72-75 mph. Honing command and control of the pitch is the next step, as there is already some tail and sink on the pitch. The curveball sat between 54-58 mph, touching 60 mph during his outing. Vintage 11/5 shape. The pitch can get a little loopy, tightening the spin for a sharper drop will help miss bats moving forward. His changeup was clocked between 60-61 mph. A work in progress that should become a show-me pitch.

6/20/17
6-foot-3, 210-pound, strong, physical athletic frame. The shoulders are sloped, back is wide and is well proportioned. A left-handed pitcher, has tempo and timing to the delivery, the hands start high, works downward with step back and comes back up, gets into a good gather position with high powerful leg raise. The direction is inline and has some length to the stride, at times leans back, arm lags behind  and baseball is up in zone. The arm action is longer with a small jab at the bottom of the arm swing. The arm works out of a high ¾ slot,  fastball was clocked at 71-73 mph, worked it more to the arm side. The breaking ball had 11/5 break clocked at 62-66 mph, and the change up was 64-67 mph. When on time, flight of baseball is downhill with some late movement to it.

2/18/17
6-foot-3, 200-pound, strong, wide, large athletic frame. The neck is long, shoulders are sloped, still has room to fill out. A left-handed pitcher, the hands start high, move back down in rocker step, then work up with his controlled high leg raise, gets to a good gather position. The separation is on time, arm works out of a high ¾ slot, arm action is longer on the backside. The direction is inline, finishes out front and backside comes through. The fastball was clocked at 76-78 mph, up from the summer. Located it well to the glove side, has down angle to it, it's straight at times, look to get some movement to the arm side. The breaking ball was clocked at 62-64 mph, has sweeping action to it, will be tough on left-handed hitters. The changeup was clocked at 68-69 mph, was thrown down in the zone. Times to the plate, were at 1.5, changed timing and rhythm in the set position. Left-hander worth following.

7/12/16
6-foot-2, 160-pound, long, lengthy frame, has plenty of room to fill out. A left-handed pitcher, the hands start  at the chest, on the rocker step, they work in sync and drop to his waist. The leg raise is smooth, the hands come back up with leg raise, and get into a good gather position. The direction of stride is good with some length to it. The arm action is long and opens it very slightly at times. The ball comes out of a ¾ slot, the fastball was 66-72 mph, threw strikes and was down in the zone with it. The curveball was clocked at 55-57 mph. The change up was 59-61 mph had good fade to armside. Worked fast and times to the plate were good at 1.25. During the delivery, could stay over post leg a little longer, timing might be better on release with more velocity. Strength and continued long tossing will help in the velocity as well.
