6-foot-5, 200 pounds, long-limbed and lanky, sloped shoulders, average athletic build with plenty of room to strengthen the frame. Easily the most projectable pitcher at the event. Saladin works from the stretch with a little crouch and high hands. He throws from a ¾-to-high ¾ slot and gets downhill with extension off a long stride, the arm action is long and loose. Saladin can collapse on the backside at times and loosen up the frontside, but as a 2020 prospect there is time for him to master his mechanics. The lead leg rises inward before jetting towards the plate. His fastball sat 87-89 MPH throughout the event, gets natural cutting movement and plays up even more based on where he’s releasing it down the mound. As he adds strength, that velocity should also climb. Saladin’s slider is thrown with velocity and tilt. The pitch sits between 76-79 MPH and is a swing-and-miss offering. The changeup gets solid separation off the fastball between 80-81 MPH. It is his most inconsistent pitch, but flashes the necessary depth to rise to at least show-me levels, and potentially a weapon at the college level. Saladin is a high follow in the 2020 class, a projectable righty with present velocity and plus secondary. With increased command and typical physical maturation, this is the type of prospect that can jump towards the top of his class with development and should find himself pitching at the D1 level when his high school career is over.
