7/12/16

5-foot-6, 135-pound, small athletic frame, shoulders are sloped, hands are strong, with solid actions all around. A left-handed hitter who can handle the bat and spray/slap it to all fields. The stance, lower half is wide, could shorten it up a little, and balanced. The hands work, are slightly lower than shoulder height, he gets them back into a good hitting position. The path is level across his chest, goes with the pitch to all fields. The tee exit velocity was 74 mph, with more in there, but at times he tries to muscle it. Times down the line were 4.72, plays faster than that, runs the bases well, gets good jumps and reads. Defensively, can really pick it, with his hands and feet working together well. The hands are soft out front, with a transfer quick. The throwing action is short, quick ¾ slot. Clocked at 73 mph, throws are on line with some carry and good touch. Better suited for second base, feeds from both sides of the bag were good. High follow for me, need to watch him over time, brings a ton to a team every club should have a kid like this.

2/14/16

A left-handed hitting middle infielder, second event for Luke, continues to grow on me. At plate, the stance is wide and weight is balanced. The lower half is under control, picks foot up and back down for his stride. The hands are set slightly above the shoulders, does a good job of getting them back into a good hitting position. The path is level across his chest, stays through the ball, has a two-handed finish. Showed the ability to spray the ball to all fields, looks to be able to handle the bat for the short game as well. The tee exit velocity was 73 mph, up from the summer, but brings way more to the game than bat speed. In the field, his prep steps are clean and crisp, feet work well. Fields the ball out front, transfer is clean and gets rid of it quick. The arm action is super short and quick. The arm across the diamond was 71 mph. Plays on both sides of the bag, feet are good on pivot. Will be a good one, for someone.

Showed very well, at the plate hits from the left side, the stance is wide, gains ground with the stride, swings the bat aggressively. The stroke is short and simple and the barrel finds the ball.  The tee exit velocity was 72, needs to gain strength. Runs ok, was 4.40 from home to first. In the field has very good hands, fields the ball out front and the transfer is very quick. The arm action is short and quick, threw 71 across the diamond. Played well in the games had a couple hits and showed good footwork around the bag. Luke seems to love the game and loves to compete. Strength is a must, the body is small, buts gets the most out of it, will be a guy to go see next spring.
