8/15/23

Cape CodA high-profile recruit out of the Northeast with blood ties to Whitey Ford, Sirota has lived up to the lofty expectations for the Huskies, posting a .922 OPS as an impact freshman in 2022, then a 1.149 OPS with 18 homers and 19 stolen bases as a stellar sophomore this spring. He went back to Hyannis for the second straight summer and performed well in eight games, hitting .304 with one homer and two doubles. Physical and athletic at 6-foot-3, 187 pounds, Sirota has a chance to be a five-tool center fielder if he can continue to refine his hit tool — and obviously he’s progressing very well in that regard. Last summer in Hyannis he struggled a bit with velocity in the zone and had a tendency to chase sliders, but he was more disciplined this time around, though his game does still have some swing-and-miss. He also continues to improve as a defensive center fielder after spending his prep career as a shortstop — his plus speed plays well in center, and his reads and jumps are getting better and better. He also has a plus arm that generated a few assists in his short stint this summer. With another big spring, Sirota should be a day one pick next year with a shot to climb into the first round.

8/01/22

Cape Cod: The great nephew of Hall of Famer Whitey Ford, Sirota arrived at Northeastern with some fanfare and turned in an excellent freshman spring, hitting .326/.411/.511 with 14 doubles, four homers and 10 steals in 141 at-bats. This summer, he was the rare true freshman hitter who performed at a high level in the Cape League, batting .339 with two homers, two doubles, two triples and 14 RBIs in 62 at-bats. A live athlete with plenty of room to add strength to his rangy 6-2, 182-pound physique, Sirota showed us fringe-average speed up the line but moves well underway and covers plenty of ground in the outfield. He has a strong arm but a tendency to airmail wild throws to no one, and his defensive acumen could use refinement. Sirota sets up with low hands from the right side and showed us the ability to drop his barrel head and turn on fastballs and offspeed stuff for hard contact to left field. We also saw some swing-and-miss against righthanded breaking balls, but on the whole Sirota has feel for the barrel and intriguing power projection as he matures. He has a chance to become a premium pick two years from now.

7/31/19

Sirota burst onto the scene breaking into the top 5 infield velocities at 91 MPH across the diamond. The Westchester County resident who stands a wiry 6-foot-1 170 pounds impressed across the board with a 6.65 60 and also posted a 92 MPH exit velocity. Offensively - At the plate he uses a controlled toe-tap as he shifts his weight back; hands are direct to contact with zone acceleration. Defensively he showed above average glove side range and make the play on the move from both sides of the bag.

6/25/19

Has a projectable athletic, lean frame at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Ran a 6.72 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- The right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance, loose hands. Shows fast twitch actions at the plate. Shows a quick direct path to the baseball. Ball jumps off the bat. Showed hard consistent contact to the middle and opposite part of the field. Finishes with a one hand follow through. Top exit velocity was 91 MPH. Defensively- as a SS, showed active footwork. Low effort actions. Gets himself in a good position when fielding the baseball. Shows smooth funnel actions. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Moves well laterally. Top throwing velocity across the diamond was 87 MPH. The 2021 graduate has tons of upside and is a must follow.

2/22/19

A wiry projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds. Ran a 6.98 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance and feet shoulder width apart. Slight leg lift and stride to the pitcher before attacking the hitting zone. Loose hands. Direct path to the baseball. Short compact swing. Displayed pop with a short stroke. Hard consistent contact. The 2021 graduate has a lot left in the tank. Top exit velocity 84 MPH. Defensively- Shows active footwork. Takes time to gather himself and gets in a good position. Shows a plus arm across the diamond. Uses his footwork to gain momentum on throws across the diamond. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity across the diamond 85 MPH. The 2021 graduate is a must follow.

6/25/18

Very projectable frame, very lean build. Runs well evidenced by his 7.22 60. Above average arm strength at 85 mph, long arm swing to release point. In the box he uses an upright stance, slight leg kick, hands and legs time up well. Above average bat speed (84 MPH). High Finish with balance throughout the swing.
