8-5-2018: 6’0/190 pounds. Wide, rounded upper body with an athletic frame. Strong, developed lower half. Keeps upper body closed during delivery and has some sight cross action in his landing. Works down the slope with balance and stays within his legs. Full arm swing after hand break. Arm action is quick but gets long on backside. Maintains slight elbow bend and shows enough arm speed to keep everything on time. Low release point. Fastball sat comfortably 90-92 mph with low effort. Worked both sides of the plate and kept ball down. At least average command. Curveball had 11/5 shape at 74-76 mph with good control. Changeup came in 79-81 mph. Has feel for both secondary pitches. Cowell has shown improved command each year he’s pitched in college and should have an average three-pitch mix on full display for his senior year at Fordham. (D Jurik)
