On the mound, projects as a reliever. Slot is slightly higher than ¾ and the ball comes out well. Fastball touched 81 mph and had good arm side action to it. The slider is a plus pitch, 73-74 mph. Showed a bigger breaking ball at 64 mph, just a show pitch. The changeup is a work in progress, sitting 67-68 mph. As a positional player, ran a 4.23 down the line on his dig and there is more foot speed in there. Confident and solid in the outfield, as his routes and ability to play centerfield are good. Threw 85 mph from the outfield with carry and accuracy. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 82 mph. The setup is even and he dives into contact with the ball. The hands set up high and he gets above the ball due to his hands being good but needs to get control of his feet. Good looking Division 1 guy for me.
7/12/16 5-foot-11, 165-pound, long, lengthy extremely athletic frame, with plenty of room for future development. One of the better athletes at this workout. A left-handed hitter, the stance is even balanced, hands are loose at shoulder height. For timing has a small leg kick, lower half is under control and backside provides some juice to the swing. The tee exit velocity was 84 mph with life and whip in his hands. The athleticism and speed are his best tools, he ran 4.06 down the line in the game. Defensively, plays the outfield, routes and footwork are very good. The arm works from a natural ¾ slot, was clocked at 86 mph. Throws were downhill and on line to target and he gave the fielders something to handle. Off the mound, works from the left side with a repeatable delivery. The ball comes out of a high-¾ slot, fastball was clocked at 81-83 mph. The slider has a chance to be a big time pitch, clocked at 74-76 mph, has late break and depth to it. The change showed some fade and was clocked at 68-70 mph. Tempo and ability to hold runners looked advanced. Great looking prospect, high academic student.
