8-1-2018: 5’11/185 pounds with athletic, fast twitch actions on the mound. Girard has been utterly dominant this summer in the NECBL. Thru 22.1 IP he’s racked up 34 strikeouts to only six walks and has only allowed nine hits (.118 batting avg against). Working from a release point with quick and fluid arm action, he attacked hitters with a consistent two-pitch mix. Fastball ranged between 90-91 mph with riding life into the zone. Curveball sat 81-84 mph, tight 11/5 shape with minimal hump out of his hand. Showed the ability to manipulate it for called strikes early in the count and bury it out of the zone when needed. Throws everything with intent. As with most undersized righties, he generates velocity with tremendous hip and shoulder separation. Fits the profile of a bullpen arm. Could see his raw stuff improve as he develops and gets stronger. (D Jurik)
