Square athletic stance at the plate, pick up and put down to stride, and lands on line. Hands make late load, swing has slight uphill tilt, and barrel is quick out of the zone. Finishes lower half completely. Exit velocity was 81 mph. Behind the plate Sams displayed quick active feet getting in line with the throw. High centered glove to hand transfer, short arm action, and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot. Catcher velocity was 75 mph and pops ranged from 2.22-2.37. Ran a 7.26 60. On the mound the delivery started with a wider athletic base. Small side step rocker, higher leg lift, and flexion in back leg. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands closed at foot strike, and falls off slightly to first base side. Full arm action and throws from a three-quarter arm slot. Fastball had carry through the zone at 79-81 and some occasional arm side run. Breaking ball had arm speed and intent at 70-72 mph. Breaking ball had 11/5 shape and was tight and late when he made it happen out front.
